Langeberg Athletics Club
Langeberg Athletics Club was founded on 20 August 1991 as the Langeberg Harlequins Club. At first our activities included running as well as cycling. Our Club has since grown exponentially. In 1998 the Club got its official easily identifiable club colours, namely maroon and white.
The Langeberg Athletics Club is quite unique in the sense that we have no Clubhouse. Our Club functions solely through mutual trust and good friendship between the different towns of the South Western Districts.
We manage the Club according to the rules prescribed by Athletics South Africa, as well as Athletics South Western Districts.
In 2001 Langeberg Athletics Club presented the first Vlakte Marathon from Heidelberg to Witsand which, as a matter of fact, has become an annual event.
Presenters of the Annual Vlakte Marathon,
also a Comrades and Two Oceans Qualifier.
20+ Athletes have already completed
the Comrades in LA Club Colours.

Join the Langeberg Athletic
Club and Start Running Too.
Anyone, no matter age, fitness level or running experience can join the Club. We run because we love running and the membership fees are low. The Club is one big, incredible family of road running enthusiasts, training together, sharing tips and helping as well as encouraging each other.
Each town has its own WhatsApp group keeping members informed about weekly as well as weekend training.
Participation in Races and Events
Club Members regularly participate in various events during the year, for instance, marathons like the Comrades, Voet van Afrika, Two Oceans, Meiringspoort, Cango, and several other races.
And, of course, we always acknowledge participants’ races and race results with pride on social media platforms and the local Forum newspapers.
The Vlakte Marathon
